Descriptive data on body fatness in almost 90 per cent of the members of an entire community of about 9,500 people are presented. Two estimates of body fatness were employed, namely, skinfold thickness (triceps and subscapular) and relative weight calculated from standing height, biacromial and bicristal diameters. The validity of these measures as estimates of body fatness is discussed.
