Six children with nutritional macrocytic anemia, all of whom had a megaloblastic bone marrow of varying degree, were treated with vitamin E. Reticulocyte response occurred in all patients, to a variable degree, but some megaloblastosis persisted which involved red cell and/or white cell precursors. Serum folate and vitamin C levels increased after vitamin E therapy. The effect on serum vitamin B12 was uncertain. Serum iron levels fell in three patients and remained the same in two patients.
