The nutritive value of the seed of Hevea brasiliensis was tested in rats. The PER was 2.0 (casein 2.5). There was no evidence of toxicity. The seed offers promise as a high-protein food supplement. The high level of lysine and tryptophan would make it a good companion protein for maize. The methionine content is low.
