The biotin content of whole blood in normal infants and adults was assayed microbiologically using Lactobacillus plantarum ATCC 8014. The infants were found to have a significantly higher level of biotin in blood than the adults. The values ranged from 14.70 to 55.50 mµg/100 ml (mean 32.38) for infants and from 12.00 to 42.15 mµg/l00 ml (mean 25.75) for adults. There was no significant difference between the sexes nor was there any significant interaction between sex and age.
