Orotic Acid in Food Milk Powders

A rapid spectrophotometric method was adapted for the determination of orotic acid in milk powders. Commercial milk powders contained from 112 to 134 mg of orotic acid per 100 g of powder. The implications of these rather high concentrations are discussed.
