An approach to evaluation has been presented which is simple and well within the capabilities of the average nutrition program staff using techniques, records, and personnel already available to the program director. The need for clearly stated goals, specific objectives, and measurable criteria, as well as functional concepts, has been set forth. Above all, the desirability of building evaluation into programs from the beginning as an ongoing activity to ensure and promote program effectiveness, staff morale, and to help guarantee continuing validity and viability of the program has been stressed.
