Erratum

Seidell JC, Pérusse L, Després J-P, Bouchard C. Waist and hip circumferences have independent and opposite effects on cardiovascular disease risk factors: the Quebec Family Study. Am J Clin Nutr 2001;74:315-21.

The individual bars in Figures 1 and 2GoGo are mislabeled. In Figure 1Go on , the top panel shows hip ({blacksquare}) and waist ({square}) residuals, the middle panel shows hip ({square}) and waist ({blacksquare}) residuals, and the bottom panel shows hip ({square}) and waist ({blacksquare}) residuals. A revised Figure 1Go in which the shading is the same in all 3 panels is printed below. In Figure 2Go on , the top panel shows hip ({blacksquare}) and waist ({square}) residuals, the middle panel shows hip ({square}) and waist ({blacksquare}) residuals, and the bottom panel shows hip ({square}) and waist ({blacksquare}) residuals. A revised Figure 2Go in which the shading is the same in all 3 panels is printed below.

FIGURE 1. Mean (± SE) differences in men in concentrations of HDL cholesterol, triacylglycerol, and insulin in comparison with the first quartile of hip ({blacksquare}) and waist ({square}) residuals (individual differences in observed circumferences minus those predicted from BMI and age). Values were adjusted for age, BMI, and the other circumference residuals.
